FOR A FORUM FRIEND

I made a little wall hanging for a forum friend. To make the hanging I altered an old CD. Believe it or not CD's are almost indestructible as far as heat guns are concerned. I painted over the CD with Wild Plum acrylic paint dried it with the heat gun then went around the edge with some Shell Pink acrylic paint then dried that. I then put a couple of coats of embossing powder and yes used the heat gun again! The middle of the hanging was cut from Memory Box paper and edged with copper ink. The image in the middle is a stamp from Crafty Individuals "Friends" I added colour to the image using various Promarkers then edged with copper ink. To finish I added pink ribbon.

JUNE ALTERED CD

The theme for the altered CD for June over on Crafting Corner Forum is Summer. For the front of the CD I used two Adirondack Earthtones dye pads in Denim and Lettuce to create sky and grass. To give a bit of variation in the sky I also used Versa Magic chalk ink in Cloud White. The flower stamp is Funstamps Daisy Border. I masked off a circle to ink the sun in yellow and drew some flying birds. The back of the Cd is a double sided k & Co paper. To finish I made a pocket card using Enfys Cashmore's instructions in the June issue of PaperCraft inspirations very simple to make but very effective. The pocket card was made using the same paper used for the back of the CD. I stamped summer on the front then used the flower border and butterfly stamps from Paper Artsy's Tops & Tails 3 set to finish.

ALTERED CD, GLITTER BLING

The altered CD theme for May over on Crafting Corner Forum is "Glitter Bling". I took a double sided paper from my 12 x 12 K & Co Designer Paper Pad. I made a double - pocket card using the instruction in the June edition of PaperCraft inspirations the article is by Enfys Cashmore. The card was really easy to make, I can see I will be making it again and again. The only thing I did which was slightly different was to glue the card portion together as my intention was to use it as a CD holder. I then took another peice of the same double sided paper and cut out two flowers. The first flower I rubbed brown ink around the edge then ambelished with beads, torquoise and pink/gold glitter then stuck it on to the CD itself after covering the back of the CD with co-ordinating paper. I then cut out a second flower again rubbing brown ink around the edge of the flower. To finish I added some small beads around the centre of the flower then some larger flat beads where the stamens were printed on the paper. I added more turquoise beads on the front with one little yellow ribbon rose I made from instructions by Anna Moore who has another good article in PaperCraft inspirations. To finish I tucked the smaller flower in the first pocket and added "glitter bling" then placed the altered CD in the second pocket.

ALTERED CD - PURPLE

The Crafting Corner altered cd theme this month is purple now I am not a great lover of purple so don't have a lot of purple in my craft stash so this was not going to be easy idea wise, just couldn't think what to do. I had a couple of purple flowers and some purple ribbon so I decided to have a play with my cropodile and threaded some of the ribbon around the cd. I stamped some fluterby's but managed to smudge bits of ink on the backing paper hence the reason for all the little flowers scattered around the main flower :(

BEARY CUTE!

Over on the Crafting Corner Forum the theme for March altered CD swap is "cute". This is my interpretation. The base papers on the front and back are by Paper Adventures , Petite Blue Posies and Evening in the Garden. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss a strip of the Evening in the Garden paper and stuck it on top of the Petite Blue Posies paper I then wrapped some jade organza ribbon around, sticking the ends of the ribbon to the back of the paper. The "cute" part is my gorgeous new Dexter the Bear stamp by Sugar Nellie which arrived in the post this week from Funkykits in Elgin. Poor Dexter has a bit of a pink theme going on with his jumper! After cutting out the stamped image I rubbed around the edge of the image with scissors to soften it a bit. To finish the front I tore some circles out of the paper, chalked the edges and used a flutterby brad to hold it all together before sticking down then as a final flourish I added another flutterby and a sweet little dragonfly before drawing around the edge of the CD with a pen.
I like to cover the back of the CD because to me it just finishes it off. I have added a little pocket and tag with Beary Cute written on. I hope the ricipient will think that Dexter is as cute as I think he is!

A Pocket Full of Possies

Over on Crafty Corner forum they are doing a altered CD swap. There is no theme for this month so I have chosen to do A Pocket full of Possies. The first image is the back of the CD with the flowers on the front. Still experimenting with my Cuttlebug this time I tried embossing ArtEmboss Light Aluminum. I have had a tube of this in a drawer for ages so it is nice to finally try something with it. This is my first altered cd swap so I was not entirely sure what to do I think when they set a theme it might be easier although it will depend on the theme I'm sure!
