New Beginnings

This is my first attempt at a painted collage canvas and yes it's a bit rough but we all have to start somewhere. I didn't have much in the way of colour because the paints I had were years old and well past there use by date they had belonged to my son when he was at school he has long since left school which tells you just how old the paints were! so I made the best of what I had. I called the canvas New Beginnings because I want to explore other types of arts. At the moment I have been reading up about mixed media, Kelly Rae Roberts book Taking Flight is a great book for inspiration you really do want to have a go at mixed media after reading her book and I love the input from her guest artists. This canvas looks completely different from when it started off it has had two or three different coloured backgrounds and themes, I like the way art can evolve as you are trying to create something and how our mood can also have a bearing on how it will turn out. When I have the time I'm going to try another one but not until I've bought some new acrylics!

MY FIRST EVER CANVAS

At the beginning of June I did a class at the Edinburgh Art Stamp Scotland fair at the Corn Exchange with Lorraine Robertson I had not done a canvas before so was not sure what to expect but it was a fun class I thoroughly enjoyed it. When I get the time I'm hoping to do another one putting my own ideas on to it.
